Humanity Fights COVID-19 with Selfless Service

As the second wave of COVID-19 hits India heavily, the burden of the disease has triggered many challenges to India’s healthcare system and its economy. However, these challenges have not restricted what humanity can do to provide as much selfless service and relief as possible to the struggling COVID-19 patients across India.

This sense of selfless service and support can currently be witnessed and experienced in Adalaj, a small town in Gujarat, India, where the Dada Bhagwan Foundation (DBF) and its on-site health care facility, Amba Health Care and Hospital (AHCH), are serving both locally and remotely located patients across India, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

DBF’s and AHCH’s COVID-19 relief measures embody the core principles of compassion, purity, and sincerity with the tagline: “Manav Mandir ni Seva” (meaning “service to the human body that is considered a temple”).

The dedicated frontline staff, many of whom are volunteers, are true warriors. Their primary focus is the effective recovery of the patients they are serving, as well as positively motivating the patients’ families through prayer, hope, and perseverance.

Some of DBF’s & AHCH’s Inspiring Initiatives in Adalaj & across India Include:

• Delivery of Essential Items and Meals to Adalaj Residents: All residents in Adalaj receive free essential & medicinal items at their homes. In order to prevent crowding, the local MTS Transport Service also delivers 3 meals a day and groceries for anyone who requests the service, regardless of their health status.

• COVID-19 Care Unit (CCU): A CCU with 25 beds and the highest quality medical professionals and equipment has been set up in Adalaj, where severe COVID-19 patients and those suffering from low oxygen levels are being treated. The facility has plans to add additional beds as resources such as supplies and volunteers become available.

• COVID-19 Check-Up & Testing: Ambulance and MTS Transport facilities are provided for COVID-19 check-ups and testing at AHCH for individuals residing in the city and its surrounding areas.

• COVID-19 Health Care Services

  • Day Care Treatment: AHCH provides timely day care treatment when a patient presents with possible COVID-19 symptoms and is looking for assistance.

  • Free Telemedicine & Health Consultations/Treatment: Doctors are relentlessly providing online free Telemedicine and Tele-OPD consultations to Adalaj residents and to patients in Gujarat and across the country. The AHCH team also provides free essential health check-up devices, provides medications and coordinates follow-up appointments, if needed.

  • Vaccination Drives: Covidshield and Covaxin vaccination drives are being held regularly at the AHCH Campus, with over 2,500 residents having received their first dose.

  • Treatment Support: AHCH provides patients suffering from severe COVID-19 symptoms who require additional support with treatment, free of cost.

• COVID-19 Relief Hotline: Dedicated volunteers, including Sankul (celibate) brothers & sisters, call the affected patients and their families to provide moral or spiritual support, follow-up with their appointments and provide them with relevant health updates. They also supply medical essentials and basic needs to front line staff, so they can focus on providing the best care for their patients.

• Educational Webinars & Community Outreach: AHCH shares educational webinars, short videos, and useful literature with the community to keep residents updated on how to take effective care amidst the current COVID-19 pandemic situation.

• Coordination of Care: AHCH doctors coordinate with other medical facilities to handle critical COVID-19 patients more effectively.

Facing Difficult Challenges with Hope and Positivity

Despite the shortage of oxygen, professional staff, infrastructure, and medications, everyone at AHCH has been working tirelessly to save lives. Through the process, many of the doctors and volunteers have tested positive for COVID-19. However, an increasing number of volunteers are still joining the selfless mission to help others in this time of need.

The Ultimate Prayer for COVID-19 Patients across the World

Pujyashree Deepakbhai, our enlightened spiritual master, conducts vidhi (special prayers) for all COVID-19 patients across the globe daily at 10PM IST and one-to-one vidhi for those who are in critical conditions. Prayers (Aarti) to Shree Simandhar Swami and Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan are also performed daily by spiritual seekers around the world to restore peace and safety to all individuals.
